Established in 1894, Hue Central Hospital was the first Western-style hospital in Vietnam. It is located at 16 Le Loi Street, Thuan Hoa Ward, Hue City. With over 130 years of history and development, Hue Central Hospital is a comprehensive, special-class general hospital. It is one of the country's three largest central general hospitals under the direct management of the Ministry of Health and one of only four nationwide classified as providing highly specialized, advanced medical services. The hospital has established modern medical technical procedures, maintains a team of highly qualified medical professionals, and effectively manages its healthcare economics. Serving as a specialized medical hub for the Central region and the entire country, the hospital is striving across all areas to become a center for advanced medicine and high-quality medical workforce training. It aims to meet Southeast Asian and international hospital standards—in accordance with Resolution No. 54-NQ/TW (dated December 10, 2019) of the Politburo—and, notably, to develop into one of Vietnam's six public hospitals operating at an international level, as outlined in the healthcare network master plan for the 2021–2030 period with a vision to 2050, recently approved by the Government.
